holding your new son for the first time: priceless :)
so here it is...the birth story. i'll try not to be too graphic. :)
Wednesday 11:15 am:
we had our doctors apmnt, which i wrote about and posted pictures. the plan was to be induced on saturday. and i just thought i was going to happen on saturday b/c he had been in there so long it seemed like he wasn't going to do it on his own. after that we went to go get out plates for the car, ate lunch which i went to mega wraps, and the boys had BK. we went to the grocery store to pick up a few last minute things for our thanks giving dinner the next day with christophers family.
wednesday 4:00pm
we were home and cleaning. i had a couple of contractoins when we got home, but they weren't regualr but they were stronger then i've felt before. then at 4 they started being about every 15 minutes on the dot. still didn't think too much, cuz i'm like, yah this has happend. but they hadn't been that strong...and then they started getting closer. so in the middle of cleaning i thought "well i'll just take a break till they calm down" i wasn't even considering that it was labor. i was set for saturday.
wednesday 6:00pm
so around 6 i finally decided that i might actually be goign into labor and debated on calling my midwfe yet. and when they got down to 7 min apart and stronger and longer, i decided to call. so we finally got in touch around 9. by this time they were about 5 mintues apart, and i couldn't talk through the contractions. so she said that it's all good signs and i'm in labor. so our plan was for me to stay home until 11 so i could be more comfortable at home. but to call if i really felt like i needed to come in. so after what felt like a million hrs, which was only 2
wednesday 11:00pm
11 finally came around. we called her, let her know my progress. but by this time the contractions were so intense christopher had to call. so our next goal was to stay until 1. unless my water broke or again i felt like i needed to come in. so not to long after that the contractions started to be regualarly 2-3 min apart and extremley intense. i was doing everything i could to deal with the pain. after every contraction i would try and prepare myself for the next one being longer and stronger. i was feeling very naucious, and actually got sick twice. probably my least favorite part.
Thursday 12:00...ish am
so i decided, with my contractions being as close as 1 minute apart and lasting ...well for a minute...and screaming in pain, i decided it was time to go in. so they called the midwife told them we're on our way. i guess it took them a long time to get me dressed...i just remember thinking "i can't do this anymore"
Thursday 12:45am
so we arrive at the hospital at the emergency door. another car was there, i remember screaming and thinking "they probably think i'm dying" and then the emergency people came out and say "someone says there's screaming" ha ha....duh. and then they asked if i was in labor. so we were pre registered so we just had to sign in. but that seemed like it took forever, and they kept asking me questions that i coudln't answer. like my name.. ha ha. i really just couldn't think. and then the L&D nurse came down and grabbed my wheel chair and started running. she kept saying "dont' push don't push" i just remember thinking, oh my gosh i'm going to fall out of this wheel chair. she was running pretty fast, while christen and christopher tried to keep up.
Thursday sometime between 12:45 and 1:10 am
they put me on the bed, and dr. furr, was there, but my midwife was not. but it's okay we know dr furr, he is the one who did our ultrasounds and if i would have had to get a c section he would have done it. and the reason why jenn wasn't there was b/c when she got the call. she came straight to the hospital but didn't make it in time, that's how fast it was when we got there. so anyway, they undressed me layed me down and broke my water, and i started pushing. that is the most intense feeling you will ever feel in your life. really. there's absolutely nothing like it. thank goodness! so they didn't have time to put the monitors on or put an iv in. so while i'm pusihing she's finding the fetal heart rate. it was low. the cord was wrapped around him. so tey used a vaccum to help get him out...even quicker. after about 15-20 minutes of pushing....
Thursday 1:27am
Baby Caydon is here. although he didn't have a name at the time. unfortuanatley i didn't get to hold him right away b/c he needed oxygen b/c of the cord. so finally i got to hold him for about 5 minutes. kyllie and sebastian arrived and got to see him before they took him to the nursery. by the way kyllie and christen both came around 9 and helped me through the whole labor and helped with sebastian. and christen came to the hospital and kyllie stayed with sebastian. but basically left right after us. so anyway, that's what went down. that's what natural labor is like
i didn't do it to prove anything...although i did by default. i did it soley b/c i didn't want a c section so i wanted to do anything to prevent that. but to be honest i'm glad i did it, and i will do it again next time. maybe i wont wait until the absolute last second to go in. lol, but all in all it went very well. and just for anyone who wants to get a c section by choice...don't. i've been through both now, and i can honestly say i would go through that pain again rather than the healing process of a c section. plus it's so much more amazing when you do it naturally. hormones and endorfines rushes through your body...you don't get that feeling when you have a c section. well anyway, there it is. it's possible. so now everyone should come and see him and bring me food :) ha ha. j/k but really anyone want to come visit just give us a call and let us know when! i'll put another blog up of pictures.
